Finally, a winner! A long time ago (in February 2017, see the link  contest), I had the idea to create a contest. So I posted a three-dimensional Super Sudoku puzzle, offering a book to the first person to submit the correct solution.  I hadn’t realized just how much effort this task would require; for several years, I didn’t receive a single correct answer. Sometimes, I received criticism for not publishing the answer. I was tempted several times to end the contest without a winner. But last month, I received a correct answer. I therefore declare the official winner: Mr. Giuliano Cavazzonni of Castelfranco Emilia, Italy. I’d like to congratulate Cavazzonni for the diligence and perseverance he demonstrated in completing this puzzle. Here is his solution.

I congratulate Mr. Cavazzonni once again—what an achievement!

I’ve learned from this experience never to hold another contest with puzzles that require so much dedication. This fall, I plan to hold another contest with puzzles that are more reasonable to complete (surely taking less than 9 years to find a winner),
