Recently, I revisited hidokus. Those who visit my site know that I have created several variations of this puzzles. Being able to modify the shape of the grids and also the boxes gives the puzzle creator a lot of freedom. So here is a new version based on the theme of twisted circles (at least, that's what I call them now). The one I'm presenting to you is a union of two circles. As in any hidoku, you have to connect the gray boxes by jumping from box to box to make a path. Just number each empty box along the path. Now it's your turn to play.

I would like to wish you all happy holidays. To end the year on a high note, here are two types of hidoku with similarities. Both consist of two more or less circular shapes that are paired together. The first is a grid composed of two octagons side by side, while the second looks more like two geometric donuts side by side. Both puzzles have squares, rectangles, or diamonds cells. In the second puzzle, there are lines in the center that allow you to connect the two cells.
Finally, you have to connect all the cells by making a path that runs through the entire grid. The two gray squares indicate the start and end of the path.
Okay, enough talk, have fun!

Hidoku gives to the puzzle creator a lot of freedom. The basic rule is to connect all the cells with a path that jumps from one square to another without ever missing a cell or passing over the same cell twice. So, you can change the shape of the grid and the shape of the cells. All you need is for each cell to have an adjacent cell.
In the form presented here, the cellsare either square, triangular, or diamond-shaped. You will also notice that they are not all the same size. So, starting from square 1 and ending at the last square on the path: 85, try to find this path. You can move from one cell to another if one corner of a cell touches another. Think outside the box and have fun.

This is a double Hidoku Penrose. As in all hidokus, you have to find the path that goes through all the cells one by one. The path starts at cell 1 and ends, in this case, at cell 62. The cells with numbers indicate the stages of the path. It's up to you to work out where each empty cell fits into the path. Try not to get lost!

In the last article, I told you about classic Hidoku, i.e. made on a rectangular grid with square cells. But this game offers great flexibility for the game creator in me. Why limit yourself to square cells in a rectangular grid? Here's a variation using the Cairo motif. The cells are pentagonal (5-sided), so a cell in the center can access 7 other cells, unlike a square cell, which can access 8 other cells. The visual aspect is refreshing!

You could find Hidoku in my two books. The firts one Hidoku Galore contains rectangular grids but also grid with hexagons and gris with different shapes. The second Offbeat Hidoku contain grid made of squares, triangles, hexagons et many other shapes, all often all mixed up in the same puzzle. Which creates stunning geometric grids.
